Halloween street food and farmers market!

This Halloween Saturday the wife and I headed up to Queen Anne for the first annual Halloween Street Food and Farmers Market. It was a fundraiser for the nonprofit QA Farmers Market Association

In attendance were the following vendors...

Maximus Minimus, Local Roots Farm, Marination Mobile, Full Circle Farm, Kaosamai Thai, Baird Orchards, Parfait Ice Cream, Sidhu Farm, Patty Pan Grill, Secret Stash Salts, Boulangerie Nantaise, Ward Johnson Winery, Got Soup!, Music from The Blair Street Mugwumps, Dantes Inferno Dogs, Pumpkin Pie Contest & Costume Contest, and Muse Coffee.

We had a great time and spent plenty of money supporting our local food and farmers market scene.  We stuffed ourselves with food from Maximus Minimus, Marination Mobile, and Boulangerie Nantaise.  We also went and got ourselves some great farm fresh organic produce from Full Circle Farms and Sidhu Farms.  There were a ton of people and a good time was had by all.

Yelp Review of Julia's Indonesian Kitchen

Julia's Indonesian Kitchen

Saturday, July 28, 2007
My review on YELP about the new Indonesian restaurant that just open up.

910 NE 65th St
Seattle, WA 98115
(206) 522-5528
Julia's Indonesian Kitchen

Category: Thai, Singaporean, Malaysian, Indonesian
Neighborhood: Roosevelt

So, I'm Dutch / Indonesian for the most part. There's some other white parts in there that we just don't really talk all that much about. Regardless, I have grown up with a grandmother and auntie's always cooking in the kitchen. My fondest memories are coming in thru the door and immediately being greeted by the heavenly aroma of indo food.

Well, for the first time in 10 years I was greeted that very same way when I walked through the front door of the quaint little house that nestles Julia's Indonesian Kitchen. Seriously, it took me back. Anyhow, on our way up the stairs we were told by a couple leaving that we were going to love the food. Its been awhile since I've been in a place where people were talking about how good the food is.

After a quick menu review I decided on the dishes we would order for dinner.  These four dishes are the four dishes that I grew up with and were the mainstay for almost every party, bbq or family gathering my entire life.  Hell, I grew up making these dishes... if anything, I had pretty high expectations.  So, tonight we went with Lumpia, Satay Ayem, Gado-Gado Betawi and the Soto Mie Jarkarta.

The results... just like grandma makes!   (full review here)

via the now defunct therev5275.blogspot.com

As I'm starting to dismantle my old Blogger account I've been reading some of my old posts. I think this one is worth republishing on my www.therev5275.com (aka Posterous) site.

Enjoy! Oh, if you get a chance you should head out there and enjoy supporting a local business.
